Position Summary:
The Senior Engineer plays a critical role in demonstrating superior technical competency, delivering operationally critical infrastructure, and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance, and security. The role requires a background in IT, computer systems engineering, or systems engineering and analysis.
The incumbent is responsible for implementing and supporting the Seeing Machines Information Systems strategy, including cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP). This involves close collaboration with the Enterprise Solutions Architect and engagement across the organization to deliver optimized, secure services aligned with delivery standards and strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
· Implement solutions for improved data consumption and production on-premise and in the cloud.
· Participate in the design of information and operational support systems.
· Maintain and execute the organization’s cloud strategy.
· Deliver optimized and secure cloud services in line with organizational standards and goals.
· Mentor Information Systems support teams.
· Provide Information Systems support and expertise to various teams within the organization.
· Provide 2nd and 3rd level support.
· Liaise with vendors and IT personnel for problem resolution.
· Install, configure, test, and support operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
· Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.
Qualifications & Expereince:
· Tertiary qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent experience.
· Solid experience with cloud technologies (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS).
· Proven experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting UNIX/Linux environments; experience with varied OS/hardware platforms.
· Experience with virtualization and containerization technologies.
· Experience with automation software (e.g., Ansible).
· Experience with monitoring systems.
· Solid understanding of public key infrastructure (PKI), including certificate authorities, certificate generation and renewal processes, and the use of certificates to ensure secure authentication, encryption, and system integrity.
· Strong scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell).
· Solid networking knowledge (OSI layers, TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLAN).
· Solid understanding of network services (DHCP, DNS, VPN, Port Authentication, Certificates)
· Understanding of CI/CD pipeline implementations.
Demonstrated understanding of security and governance in cloud environments (e.g., ISO27001, SOC 2, NIST).
